Bonding is a procedure normally used to repair imperfections and minor chips on front teeth. It’s also commonly used to fill in the gaps between teeth. For larger cracks and crooked or misaligned teeth, porcelain veneers or invisalign ( invisible braces) are usually used. When bonding is applied the material used is what dentists use for white or composite fillings. The bonding material can be matched to the color of your teeth and shaped to correct whatever the problem may be. This procedure can usually be completed in one appointment, and anesthesia is rarely needed.
Dental bridges are another option for replacing missing teeth. When someone has one or more missing teeth it can affect their bite, cause surrounding teeth to shift, change their smile, cause symptoms of TMJ and even speech impediments. If this goes on over a period of time the wear and tear on your remaining teeth can cause severe discomfort in the mouth as well as a greater potential for dental decay and bone loss around the area. If these problems persist bacteria will build and can cause health problems throughout the body as a whole. There are many different kinds of bridges available depending on how many teeth need to be replaced and what area of the mouth the missing tooth is located. The dentist working on the patients treatment plan will diagnose which type of bridge will be best for the situation.
Dr. Posey will most likely need to reshape your surrounding teeth in order to fit your bridge. Once that’s done crowns are placed over the reshaped teeth, which will then be connected to the artificial tooth and act as an anchor holding the artificial tooth in place. To replace front teeth a resin-bonded bridge is normally used. This can only be done if the surrounding gums and teeth are strong and healthy without a lot of fillings. A resin-bonded bridge doesn’t require a lot of preparation for the adjacent teeth.
Dr. Posey can create a dental bridge for you, which will improve your confidence as it transforms your smile.
Crowns are meant to protect the part of the tooth that is seen above the gum line. They are placed there to strengthen the tooth or to enhance its appearance or size. They are also used to secure a bridge or finish a dental implant. There are a quite a few different kinds of crowns available, each serving a specific purpose. Our dentist can advise you on whether or not you will need a crown depending on the type of treatment you are receiving. Often a temporary crown is put in place until the permanent crown is made professionally in a dental lab so there is no worry of tooth being exposed. Crowns are made of different substances such as porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, metal or resin.

Here at Palm Family Dental we are proud to offer an approach to smoother, more comfortable procedures when conducting root canal therapy. We use rotary endodontic technology to assist with the treatment of a root canal. There are several advantages to using rotary endodontic treatment over traditional root canal therapy, and it all starts with the tools.
Instead of using traditional manual files and stainless-steel instruments to treat a root canal, Rotary endodontics employs electrically-powered instruments to perform treatment on root canals. The hand tool we use is equipped with a tip made of nickel titanium. This material is 5 times more flexible than stainless steel.
Due to the flexibility, the nickel-titanium instrument is able to perform unique movements that allow the tool to insert deeply into a curved root canal without damaging or stretching the passageway. This allows a more reliable procedure to be done in a quicker manner.
Advantages of Rotary Endodontics
- The nickel titanium is capable of cleaning out the root canal more smoothly and consistently.
- Root canal procedures have less chance of complications and are more reliable.
- The tool is much smoother and quieter; this provides the convenience of having the procedure done without the loud grinding that is experienced with manual files.
- The fast treatment time, coupled with instruments that are quieter, creates a more comfortable experience for our patients.
With rotary endodontics, our patients feel more comfortable during root canal procedures. To find out more information, and if rotary endodontics is right for you, contact our office today! Call (559) 227-4078

Many people are interested in whitening or brightening their smile. It seems like we receive more questions about bleaching than just about any other topic. At our Fresno dental practice we offer different options to meet the needs of our patients.
Custom Teeth Whitening Trays
With this option, impressions are taken and whitening trays are custom made in our on-site dental lab. Our staff verifies the fit of the trays and demonstrates how to load the tray with whitening agent. Custom whitening trays allow the user to whiten their teeth at their own pace. It also gives the user the ability to touch up the whiteness or brightness of their smile before special occasions. Custom whitening trays are a great option for those who are willing to put in the time to wear them.
Permanent Teeth Whitening
With the permanent whitening option, minimal prep veneers are used. In other words, we use thin pieces of porcelain to cover the front side of the teeth. The process may take several appointments but the results are fantastic. With this process, not only can we brighten smiles, but we can also make cosmetic changes if desired.
